Why should we learn language?

       Language development is central to students’ intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional growth and must be seen as a key component of the learning. When students learn to use language, they do more than master the basic skills. They learn to value the power of language and to use it responsibly. They learn to express feelings and opinions and to support their opinions with sound arguments and evidence from research. They become aware of the many purposes for which language is used and the diverse forms it can take to serve particular purposes and audiences. They learn to use the formal language appropriate for debates and essays, the narrative language of stories and novels, the figurative language of poetry, the technical language of instructions and manuals. They develop an awareness of how language is used in different formal and informal situations. They come to understand that language is an important medium for communicating ideas and information, expressing world views, and realizing and communicating artistic vision. Students learn that language can be not only used as a tool but also appreciated and enjoyed.

    Language is the basis for thinking, communicating, learning, and viewing the world. Students need language skills in order to comprehend ideas and information, to interact socially, to inquire into areas of interest and study, and to express themselves clearly and demonstrate their learning. Learning to communicate with clarity and precision will help students to thrive in the world beyond school.

    Language is a fundamental element of identity and culture. As students read and reflect on a rich variety of literary, informational, and media texts, they develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others and of the world around them. If they see themselves and others in the texts they study, they will be more engaged in learning and they will also come to appreciate the nature and value of a diverse, multicultural society. They will develop the ability to understand and critically interpret a range of texts and to recognize that a text conveys one particular perspective among many.

The Performance Distinction on the OSSLT

在OSSLT测试中,获得优异成绩的学生具备的特征

    The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test(OSSLT) is administered to all students in the province in March of their Grade 10 school year. Successful completion of the test is a graduation requirement. The test is composed of reading selections with multiple-choice and open-response items, writing prompts with multiple choice writing items. The test is administered in one day in two 75-minute blocks.

      After a review of students’ work on the test, literacy experts from across the province identified characteristics of successful or unsuccessful students’ work. The characteristics were categorized into headings that defined what each characteristic meant in relation to the test.


        通过参加测试学生的成绩反馈,全省的语言专家了解并整理出一些在测试中表现成功或失败学生行为的特征。下表我们把这些特征进行归纳,并定义了每个特征相对于测试的含义。

添加微信 获取报名表;

准备材料并支付报名费;

● 身份证明(中国居民身份证正反面,护照首页,有效居留中国签注页)

● 学校出具中英文在读证明和包含至少两个学期的成绩单

提交申请并等待审核;

完成报名表并连同其他报名材料和报名费用支付证明,以Word文档或PDF格式发送至邮箱:

admissions@yorkhab.com

入学评估测试;

在完成报名材料初步审核后,通知学生进行入学评估测试。

发放录取通知书,确认学分转换;

通过评估测试的学生将收到录取通知,并有专业课程辅导员提供学分转换及选课咨询服务,在支付学分转换评估费用后,国内初三至高三已修课程可转换成加拿大高中相应学分。

06

缴纳学费,规划选课;

课程辅导员会提供选课咨询,并根据学生情况制定建议课表。

07

注册学籍,开始学习;

成功注册加拿大高中学籍,根据课程表开始学习,课程中有任何疑问都可以联系专属课程辅导员。

入学评估阶段



● 报名费用:人民币350元

(一次性费用,包含报名材料审核和入学评估测试)

● 学分转换认证费用:人民币800元

选课学习阶段



● 选课费用:人民币6000元 / 学分
